Devotion for Thursday, July 15, 2010

Scripture - 12Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13"Make level paths for your feet," so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed. Hebrews 12:12-13 NKJV

Observation - In Paul’s letter, he encourages us to endure hardships so that we can persevere through any disciplines. For if we weren’t disciplined by the Father, how can He provide the strength that is needed for us to fulfill His plan and purposes.

Application - This amazing mission trip has brought you to a place of desolation and what seems to be a chaotic world that seems to have no end of being healed. YOU were chosen to go to Haiti by the Lord, to encourage others around you to continue to be strong and healed through the word of the Lord. He gives us the strength so that we can be a light for those who don’t know Him. As you help to fix broken homes, lives, and hearts, remember to seek Him daily on this journey so that you can gain strength.

Prayer - Heavenly Father, I thank you for the team that you CHOSE to send to Haiti. It is by Your will and strength that they survive the devastation that they see. I ask for Your protection over the team; spiritually (as the enemy will try to attack the good they are doing), emotionally (this kind of devastation will truly be taxing on the heart), and physically (that all be strengthened by You). I pray that they continue to shine brightly with Your light in the darkness. Amen. - Kim Matsukawa
